InvenSpan® People
Andy Van Brocklin, CEO and Subject Matter Expert
With deep experience in original electronics technology creation, Andy has focused on core semiconductor and mobile technologies while leading teams to invent across boundaries.
Early work in the mobile computing and laptop space provided him with not only technology development experience, but also how to lead his teams and his technology section to successfully deliver on major projects .
Later work in technology origination for new business allowed for deep dives into creating solutions for these teams as requested. These areas included work in semiconductor memory, novel sensors, fluidic devices; all with electronics designed and developed to realize the full potential of these works.
Andy is an inventor on two hundred international patents for his work and has four thousand citations to these works.
Current efforts include high performance analog design in integrated circuit processes as well as at firmware and model level; always focused on the client’s desired result.
Andy is a senior member of the IEEE, a member of the IEEE Consultants Network of Silicon Valley. Publications can be found using his ORCID and also on his Google Scholar page.
Alex Van Brocklin, Engineering Manager
Originating on-schedule designs to specification for clients for four years, Alex has experience ranging from designing Electric Vehicle power systems for retrofits, designing switching power supplies, to creating biomedical and mechatronics solutions.
Alex’s biomedical experience comes from work at Lazarus 3D, where his work provided accurate simulation of human heart movement in the torso for surgery rehearsal.
RF devices and intentional transmitters are an increasing focus area for Alex, including Electromagnetic simulation at the board level and filter design to specification.
Alex’s understanding of the importance of requirement setting, thru translation of these requirements into actionable hard specifications provides a solid basis for the work this team does.
Alex holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is a member of the IEEE.
Rick Seaver, Subject Matter Expert
With a passion for numeric modelling and engineering design driven from his simulation results, Rick has produced breakthrough designs year after year.
His focus and experience is on understanding fluids and their interaction in real time to produce among the worlds best engineering designs in these domains.
Being involved in 3D printing of metals using ink-jet devices, and in particular with 400 series stainless steel, Rick’s work provided team insight into processes limiting production speed for sintered metal objects.
Rick’s biomedical work is his most recent, and builds on extensive experience. In creating breakthrough designs for biomedical products his knowledge of the bedrock of numeric modelling has been pivotal to providing results that few can match. With virtuoso use of modelling, Rick’s simulations encompass thermal, fluidic and electromagnetic domains; single domain, or multi-domain co-simulations.
Rick’s biomedical works include the design and simulation range from bulk to single cell sensing, diagnostics, then to PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) devices.
Tim Goloviznin, Engineer
Tim’s focus area is on printed circuit board development. His demonstrated results include innovative audio devices including an audio synthesis system.
Tim is particularly skilled at schematic capture and PCB layout, done to the client’s requirements.
Skill in firmware and embedded systems with STM and other microcontrollers provides solid solutions to client needs in this area.
Expertise in Verilog allows for quick turn around on digital designs for FPGA devices.
Tim holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Blake Roberts, Engineer
Blake provides depth in circuit design focusing on analog mixed-signal technology.
His background in analog integrated circuits supports delivery of difficult designs plus adds to understanding of what it takes to meet detailed electronic requirements for demanding applications.
One of Blake’s many strengths is open communication with the client, understanding and taking in their requirements, and producing detailed specifications for the team to execute action on.
Blake’s current work is in the full stack of designing, building and delivering prototype test equipment, from requirements thru delivery. Accomplished in a way that meets client needs is very important to InvenSpan and the client’s projects.
Blake holds both a Bachelors and Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is a member of the IEEE.
